Powerful and Easy to Use

Been using Screenflow for our YouTube Lets Play show; if it werent for Screenflow, our show wouldnt be possible. No other software weve tried for editing have Screenflows intuitive interface, drag-and-drop elements and real-time rendering. Everything works like butter.

There are a few things wed love to see improved in future.

• There is no linear animation curve; the "default" option is just a subtler "ease-in-ease-out" that speeds up slightly at the start and slows down again at the end.
• Nesting clips within nested clips has unpredictable results; sometimes animations work and sometimes they dont, and its not always apparent what will work. It works better than it did in 4 (which was not at all), and for basic use thats fine, but in our work we sometimes have to render a clip and then reimport it to work with it, which increases the filesize significantly.
• It would be fantastic if it were possible to trim the source files down to keep filesizes low. Heres a usage scenario we ran into: we recorded about an hour and a half of gameplay, complete with audio, and wound up with a 5GB source file. That file is getting split into two episodes, and the last third of it are getting re-recorded so theyre not needed. Every time Screenflow tries to save the file, because its so huge, it takes upwards of 30-60 seconds. Other, smaller episodes are much quicker to save (nearly instantaneous), so being able to split the source into two separate, smaller files would be amazing.
• Currently Screenflow appears to make a copy of every asset you import into the file, which isnt very resource-friendly. It would be nice if Screenflow offered at least the option to refer to an external file instead. This would also make updating our assets a lot simpler, as we could just save over the referenced file.

These are all little niggles and most of them revolve around VERY advanced usage scenarios. I cant recommend this software highly enough.
